"Louis Armstrong, 1922-1930" is a Jazz Master Lecture presented by Dr. Paul Laird. This lecture will explore Louis Armstrong as a musician in his early years through audio examples and history.

About the lecturer:

Paul Laird is Professor Emeritus of Musicology at the University of Kansas, where he taught for thirty years until 2024. He taught many courses on American music with strong jazz content and was responsible for assembling the list of jazz festivals for two editions of The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. He is also a noted scholar on American musical theater, on which he has published widely. He lectures frequently in the Kansas City area.
