About this Event

Join John and René from Lost Rivers, with special guest community member Amy from Canary District Neighbourhood Association on Sunday, April 19th at 2pm for a guided walk in Corktown Common.
This area was once a marsh wetland on the east end of the town of York, with Crookshank and Sumac Creeks winding through on their way to the join the Don.
Located at the mouth of the Don River, Corktown Common is a 7.3 ha (18 acre) park opened in 2013 and created by TRCA and Waterfront Toronto as a flood protection landform.
The park was the first step in a long process of infrastructural improvements for the Don River and its naturalization, now fully realized with Biidaasige Park and the Ookwemin Minising community.
From cat tails to a hog processing plant to an athletes village, come learn about how this area has been made and remade into a park, and the community’s vision for its future.
