Synopsis
Cara de Ángel is a sensitive teenager trying to understand who he is and what it means to be a man in a world shaped by violence and hostile masculinity. Desperate to earn a place within his neighbourhood’s pack, he agrees to take part in a robbery as a test of courage and belonging.
As his feelings for Gabriela and his fascination with Jhonny, the singer of a punk band, pull him in different directions, Cara de Ángel is pushed toward choices that will mark the end of his innocence. Set in a raw and restless urban Lima, Los inocentes is a provocative portrait of youth, desire, fear and the need to be accepted.
Directed by Germán Tejada, Los inocentes is a Peru–Mexico co-production and the director’s debut feature film. The film won Best Genre Film at the 40th Guadalajara International Film Festival and received the awards for Best Peruvian Film and Best Direction at the 29th Lima Film Festival PUCP.
