LOS GAITEROS DE SAN JACINTO are one of the most famous traditional cumbia groups to perform outside of Colombia. Formed in the Caribbean Region of Colombia, they have been active since 1940. Their music preserves traditions developed through the mixing of Amerindian, African and Spanish heritages, and it is the precursor to big band and accordion-based cumbia. In 2007, the group won a Latin Grammy award in the category Folkloric Music for their album "Un Fuego de Sangre Pura," released on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Since then, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto have toured the world generating enthusiasm for their music well beyond regional and national borders.
LOS BAHIANATOS specialize in Colombian dance music featuring the button accordion, including cumbia, vallenato, música sabanera, salsa colombiana and everything in between! It's a blend of gritty roots music and upbeat dance tunes by some of Colombia's greatest "juglares" of the 20th century, including Andres Landero, Adolfo Pacheco, Lisandro Meza, Alejo Durán, Calixto Ochoa, Enrique Diaz, Miguel Durán and many more. Founded in Oakland, California, during the early months of the pandemic, Los Bahianatos remain the premier cumbia and vallenato group in 'La Bahia' de San Francisco. www.instagram.com/bahianatos / https://www.youtube.com/@bahianatos
