Los Angeles: Protest Kapparot Chicken Killing

Sun Oct 02 2022 at 05:00 pm

19819 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364-2627, United States | Woodland Hills, CA

TWO PROTESTS. See below for more details.
Please join local animal rights activists to protest the killing and discarding of six-week old chickens as part of the non-obligatory kapparot rite at Hebrew Discovery Center in Woodland Hills.
Even though Jewish law condemns cruelty to animals, every year, thousands of chickens are abused and killed in kapparot rituals on the eve of Yom Kippur. Factory farms transport chickens to kapparot sites, like the Hebrew Discovery Center, in cramped, waste-ridden cages without giving the birds any food, water, or shelter from the elements. Many chickens die on the trip from dehydration, starvation, fear, and exposure to high temperatures.
