WHO: Everyone is welcome! However, please do not come if you have or recently had symptoms of or exposure to COVID-19.
If you’re nervous, you can come observe or hold a sign quietly.
PARKING: There is a parking garage across the street, with entrances on Spring St and Broadway St.
ACCESSIBILITY: The parking garage has elevators, and there's a crosswalk nearby for people to traverse to the AG's office. The sidewalks on both sides are also wide.
WHY:
For decades, clear evidence of animal cruelty at California factory farms and slaughterhouses has been ignored by every level of government. Meanwhile, whistleblowers and rescuers exposing these abuses are being prosecuted.
A recent example is Zoe Rosenberg, a 23-year-old animal rescuer with no criminal record, who was convicted for saving four sick chickens from Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse — a facility previously exposed for scalding birds alive. After a seven-week trial where evidence of cruelty was severely restricted, Zoe now faces nearly five years in jail, while Petaluma Poultry faces no consequences.
When county prosecutors ignore or even cover up cruelty, the state’s top law officer must step in. The California attorney general has direct authority over every district attorney and can prosecute crimes when local officials fail to act. That’s why we’re urging AG Rob Bonta to hold Petaluma Poultry and other animal-abusing companies accountable.
