Natalia Lafourcade last collaborated with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the summer of 2019. Since then, much has changed for the acclaimed Mexican singer and songwriter. In 2022, she put out her first album of original material in seven years, the stunning De Todas las Flores: a raw, deeply personal album that she’s called a “musical diary.” It represents a new lyrical and musical direction for the songwriter, who has won 17 Latin Grammys, more than any other female performer, and 4 Grammy Awards. “One of my most profound inspirations was Mother Earth and her energy,” she’s said. “I had never explored something like that in my music: the cadence of water, of wind, of a storm, of a wave, of fire, of the playfulness that exists in all the elements in balance.” She looks unflinchingly at heartbreak, death, grief—and joy.
