Judge Req.: n-1, missing judge fee: $25
Judge fee: $60
Team Fees:
Institutional Teams: $150
Independent Teams: $200
There will be a 25% off student discount for independent teams who can provide proof of enrolment in university for both debaters, so the cost for independent STUDENT teams will be $150 (the same as institutional teams)
IMPORTANT INFO: What is up with this pricing? doesn't this just mean non-students have to pay 50 dollars extra? Well yes! CUDS recognizes that university debate clubs often face constrained budgets, making it difficult to send teams to tournaments. As a result, students are sometimes forced to pay out of pocket to attend tournaments, despite being of limited means themselves in many cases. On the other hand, debaters who have graduated university have the ability to work full-time jobs, giving them more disposable income to spend on their hobbies. We think it is fair that those with greater means pay a bit extra to reduce costs for everyone else. CUDS has always strived to uphold principles of accessibility and equity, and have historically been generous when providing waivers and setting low prices, we want to continue to do this in a sustainable way to ensure we can break even, and we think Dorchester is a good tournament to test out alternative options such as these. There are very many reasons for this decision, and you are welcome to reach out for more clarity on the rationale behind this decision.
