About this Event
Join the Women’s Committee on a self-drive tour visiting historic Bathurst and district in the spring.
Gateway to the golden west, Bathurst on the banks of the Macquarie River, surrounded by highly productive, agricultural countryside and historic country homesteads. In the city a diverse range of architectural styles line the streets surrounded by well-kept gardens.
Amongst the town and country properties included are:
- “Blackdown”, C1827 now, fully restored. Set on a rise above the city, surrounded by magnificent trees, sweeping lawns and lush gardens
- “Alloway Bank” with cattle grazing in the nearby paddocks, dates from 1872, still with many of its original features and surrounded by a large garden
- Historic “Wisteria House” and “Ranken Cottages” C1842 are fine examples of restoration and adaptive reuse
The exact starting point and tour schedule for the two days will be emailed to ticketholders before the event.
Should you plan to arrive ahead of the weekend, you will receive along with the itinerary, a curated list of interesting public places to visit.
