Right here in Brookline stands the oldest grove of European Beech trees in North America. Please join us on Monday, June 8 at 6 PM for a celebration of Longwood Mall and its magnificent trees, many of which were planted in the 1840s. The Brookline GreenSpace Alliance and the Friends of Longwood Mall are hosting a guided walk through the park. We will discuss the park’s history, the current challenges it faces, and the strategic plan to preserve the park for future generations. Our special guest is Jack Schleifer, Brookline’s Urban Forestry Manager and Tree Warden. Visit www.longwoodmall.org for more information about the park.
