About this Event
The September Pawpaw Chapter field trip will be a Volusia County Eco-buggy tour of part of the Longleaf Pine Preserve. Our guides will be Geno Rankin, Volusia County Sustainability and Outreach Director and Tommy Nordmann, Explore Volusia Education Specialist.
We will be traveling through pine flatwoods and cypress strands, and we’ll likely see late summer and early fall wildflowers blooming, carnivorous plants, and possibly some pine lilies that the Pawpaw Chapter rescued and replanted 5 years ago.
Meet at the east entrance of Longleaf Pine Preserve, 4551 Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach. Note that your GPS might not take you to the correct location when using that address. The correct location is on the north side of Pioneer Trail about a quarter mile east of where it joins Highway 44. There will be yellow Explore Volusia signs posted on Pioneer Trail to help guide people to the entrance.
Registration will be through the Pawpaw Chapter Eventbrite and will open at 6pm Monday Aug. 12.
This field trip is limited to 20 participants.
Dress appropriately for the weather and bring water. You may also want insect repellent and/or sun screen.
