About this Event
The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to meet Education Specialist Tommy Nordmann and Environmental Specialist Holly Giles at the western entrance of Longleaf Pine Preserve for a one-mile hike. We’ll explore the native plants that make up this 12,000-acre preserve and learn how these plants provide habitat for the animals that live in and move through this portion of the Volusia Corridor.
** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program.
ACTIVITY: This will be a moderate hike. There may be standing water and/or mud on parts of the trails, and there is a raised boardwalk with no railings.
RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.
TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.
AGES: All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes that can get muddy or wet, comfortable clothing for the outdoors
WHAT TO BRING: water, bug spray, sunscreen
FACILITIES: There will be a port-a-potty but no running water.
