Long Story Short MCR : Mating Season

Expect an honest, unpretentious evening of exchange. Driven by a theme of the month inspired by true stories unfolding in the world however big or small. You will leave with a dollop of wholesome heart-warming connection with a bunch of strangers with a side-order of amusement at the stories shared and a recognition of how connected we all really are.

Speed Dating and Mating 8.30pm - 9.30pm

***You can come to one without the other but having now recruited the Storytellers and heard a glimpse of their true stories, I would actively encourage both!! Both are individually priced and £2 of every speed dating ticket goes to charity ***

Theme of the Month: SEX, DATING & SELF LOVE.

Story Line Prompters: It is the month of mating, dating and cheeky fumbles. Lets talk about Sex. The good, the bad and all the weird and wonderful experiences. Let's remind each other that sometimes intimacy is electric and magnetic and other times it's clumsy as fuck. Or take it literally and speak about gender and what that means to be you. Or thrust us forward with your dating history. Love is love. Sex is Sex. I encourage a full representation of our community.

Dating: Bring us on the journey of romance, I want to hear the success stories just as much as I want to hear about your random encounters with attractive strangers.

Self Love: Is just as important, nobody can fulfil your desires without you dedicating some time to your own needs. Inspire others with your dedication to self love. Tell us about your journey, what you've learnt and what set you on that path.

Let's get intimate. Let's be brave. Let's share our experiences and remind those witness to it that connection regardless of form is fundamental.

An open mic for sharing experience, to help us understand in some form or other that we're all the same, and that similarity may allow someone who hears your tale to recall some of their own and keep spreading that joy organically.

BOLT ON: Not Bolton, the northern powerhouse. Bolt On. An added extra. It feels only natural that we host a quick fire speed dating event after tonight's show. This is for everyone. Don't make me spell it out.

Looking for a mate? A date? Or just open to both? Come along. Talk to another human face to face for 3 solid minutes. It may just make you feel good and if that doesn't get you off, maybe a donation of your ticket price going to the local charity MASH, does.

How it works.

One set theme and an acknowledgement that there is two types of people in the world.

The Storytellers: You have five minutes of fame. Five minutes to tell the long story of the short tale. Let it be powerful. Let it be punchy. Let it be your authentically yours to tell. The interpretation of the theme is yours to own and can be delivered in any communication form you feel comfortable with (Storytelling/Spoken Word/Poetry/Singing/comedy/drag queens).

The Listeners: Our crowd. If you’re only here for the entertainment then your in the right place! Expect this to be part confessional, part comedic, part therapeutic. This evening is not staged, these are just everyday folk like you and I that have the confidence to share their experience with you. Our only rule is be present, be respectful of others and give them a hearty applause upon sharing! The beauty of this evening, is you really don’t know how the evening will evolve and that’s what makes it so exciting.

There are to strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet. Long Story Short wants to create a environment which is open to all. Each of us, unique yet relatable. Weird yet wonderful. The fish to the chips of life. Gobble up that feeling and let's form a community.
