Have you ever fancied the notion of entering a long distance paddling race or expedition but just don’t know how to get started? If so, then mark your calendar and head over to the shop for a fun and informational clinic that will be presented by veteran distance racer Jeff Kay who is also the race director of the legendary California River Quest.
The California River Quest event is the perfect example of an opportunity to set a goal of entering since it welcomes kayaks, surfskis, canoes, outrigger canoes in addition to prone and standup paddleboards. The event offers 25, 50, 75 or even 100 mile distance options. As the name of the event implies, it’s a quest and doesn’t have to be a race which takes the pressure off and the only person you might be racing is yourself.
This clinic will cover a broad selection of topics such as;

what to wear
how to prep your boat
gadgets and gear
key safety considerations
route planning
and more
The clinic is Free and there is no RSVP needed. Just come on down. We’ll have some light snacks and refreshments but please feel free to BYOB and Potluck dishes are welcomed (but not required). Come connect with the distance paddling community!
