About this Event
One wouldn't immediately think that the fate of the American Civil War was decided in London - but some of the most fascinating characters, the strangest incidents, and indeed most pivotal moments of the war could be found right in the heart of London. From when Confederate diplomats shouted at British statesmen, to gun running, spying, and bribery, to when Britain and the United States nearly declared war on each other over a mail ship - London was a not insignificant part of American Civil War history.
Join American Civil War historian Darrell Rivers, dressed in the clothing of the era, for a historical walk beginning in St. James's Park, around Pall Mall, Horse Guards, and Parliament Square.
The walk is free, though tips are kindly accepted.
Private tours available for booking covering American Civil War London, Crimean War London, and a host of other topics.
