About this Event

Introduction to kiltmaking

Join Andrea Chappell, traditional kiltmaker, to learn some of the skills and stitches used in hand stitched kiltmaking. You'll receive the cloth and instructions you need to pleat your own tartan ruff, cuff, or collar to take home — all tools for the workshop will be provided. The tartan accessory is entirely hand stitched, no previous experience, or professional skills are required, but the ability to thread and hold a needle is a bonus!..
In this small group you'll discover the artistry behind this endangered heritage craft, alongside the opportunity to see behind the scenes of the DYE WEAVE PLEAT kilt collaboration, in the exhibition OUR COMMON GROUND, on show at the art'otel gallery, featuring craft makers from across Britain, curated by SLOW WAYS.
