LONDON BY NIGHT: The Songs of Julie London

Fri Jun 02 2023 at 09:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Paris Cat Jazz Club | Melbourne, VI

Nikki Nouveau and her band pay tribute to one of America’s most beloved jazz vocalists Julie London.

London’s sultry smouldering voice best known for ‘Cry Me A River’ the torch song that launched her career is heard on over 30 albums released during the 1950s and 1960s.

For 40 years London enigmatically popularised great American jazz standards such as ‘Im In The Mood For Love’ ’Fly Me To The Moon’ ‘My Heart Belongs To Daddy’ ‘Blue Moon’ ‘I Should Care’ and ‘Misty’ and she remains a significant source of inspiration for contemporary artists including Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish.

Nouveau’s show not only reimagines London’s wonderful music but also shares intimate stories behind some of her most celebrated songs. With musical accompaniment by acclaimed Melbourne musicians Alexander Nettelbeck (piano) and Tony Hicks (tenor sax soprano sax and flute).

Experience a very special night of jazz sensual torch songs and nostalgic favourites as Nouveau's velvety smooth vocals take the audience on a musical journey through London’s life love and infectious magic.

Friday 2nd June - 9:00pm (Doors 8:30pm)

General Admission: $45.00
