Come and celebrate the launch of Nowhere with Jon Claytor and special guests Ian Roy, Diana Tamblyn, Jill Bennett, and Misha Bower!
Join us at Little Wren Books for an evening of reading, music, and fantastic conversation. This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
A hilarious and sinister reflection on growing up in a world where monsters are real, Nowhere is a dreamlike meditation on adolescence and the absurdity of small-town life.
About the Authors:
JON CLAYTOR is a graphic novelist, painter, and writer. Born in San Francisco, he lived and worked in several Canadian cities, including Halifax, Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto, before settling in Sackville, New Brunswick.
Claytor’s work ranges from oil painting and watercolour to comics. He has had solo exhibitions at galleries in Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, and throughout the Maritimes. He has also written and illustrated stories for CBC Radio, the Frye Festival, and the website ruralharmreduction.com.
IAN ROY is a writer, screen printer, and educator. His work has appeared in numerous magazines and journals, including The Antigonish Review, Arc, Geist, Long Con Magazine, Maisonneuve, and The New Quarterly. Ian is the author of six books, including the short story collection, People Leaving, which was short-listed for both the City of Ottawa Book Award and the Upper Canada Writers’ Craft Award.
DIANA TAMBLYN is an award-winning artist and graphic novelist who has been actively writing and drawing comics for over 20 years. She’s exhibited her comics at small press fairs and comic book festivals in both Canada and the US and has had artwork displayed in various group and solo shows. In 2005, She was chosen by the Globe and Mail as a “Canadian cartoonist to watch”. She is the recipient of a Canada Council Grant, a London Arts Council Grant, is the founder of the “Ting Comic and Graphic Arts Festival” in London, Ontario, has served on the Ontario Arts Council Jury and curated the show “Words and Pictures: Cartoonists from Southwest Ontario” for Museum London. Diana graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a BFA in Film Animation.
JILL BENNETT is a writer and illustrator whose work explores the complexities of being alive with a dark, humorous outlook. She’s based in London, Ontario and you can explore her published work on her website, www.jillbennett.net
MISHA BOWER is a writer, musician & performer based in London, ON / Deshkan Ziibi.
