Log Island and Malkauns Mystiques
Log Island is the power pop outfit led by American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben Martin, who has lived in Stockholm since 2010. Catchy indie pop with some edge (imagine Belle & Sebastian joined onstage by Weezer), along with thoughtful lyrics and a sense of humor. Log Island’s first single, “Sister Death,” a neo-psychedelic nature hymn produced by LA-based indie artist/producer Jay Som, is out now on all platforms. Enjoy music from Log Island!
Stockholm-based quartet Malkauns Mystiques brings Asawari Joshi’s classically trained Indian singing into dialogue with Johan Kihlert’s jazz trumpet, backed up by a solid groove laid down by Ozita Salustiano on bass and Ben Martin on drums. A musical conversation that is rooted in traditions but somehow new; a sound that is clearly Indian, but somehow very Stockholm. Each song builds on a traditional Indian raaga (a melodic structure or motif), locked into a groove and opening out to improvisation, making each performance unique.
