The Music of Bud PowellNotable New Zealand guitarist Lockie Bennett brings his trio to Paris Cat for a show celebrating the genius of Bud Powell. Lockie will be joined by local legends Robbie Finch (bass) & Lewis Pierre (drums). The trio will present a selection of Powell’s most-loved songs, deep-cut compositions and standards played by Powell.
Lockie Bennett is a jazz guitarist based in Wellington, New Zealand, who specialises in bop-oriented music. Lockie is also regarded as one of New Zealand’s most in-demand straight-ahead jazz guitarists. Since graduating from the New Zealand School of Music in 2020, Lockie has played regularly as both a leader and a side man with some of New Zealand’s highest-regarded jazz musicians.
