Authenticity is a rare gem in music, and when an artist emerges from Kentucky’s bluegrass heartland, their deeply personal stories resonate with true passion and purpose. Josh Merritt is a prime example of this kind of artistry.
Hailing from Owensboro, Kentucky, Josh Merritt embodies the grit and sincerity of his roots. Over the past decade, he has fine-tuned his craft on the Southern tour circuit, earning respect and admiration along the way.
In 2020, Josh released his debut studio album, Reynolds Station, a poignant collection of songs that vividly recount his challenging childhood amidst the rural America amphetamine crisis. The album received acclaim from esteemed outlets like American Songwriter, Country Rebel, The Bluegrass Situation, and Americana UK. Merritt’s rising star led him to open for notable acts such as Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Daniels, Corey Smith, Ole 60, The Wilder Blue, and Colt Ford.
At the start of 2024, Josh unveiled his second studio album, 206, a semi-autobiographical country concept and breakup record. The lead single, "Give It To Me," along with its music video, sparked a surge of downloads, streams, and new fans. Co-produced, engineered, and mixed by Zach Kasik—whose impressive credits include Old Crow Medicine Show and Jamey Johnson’s That Lonesome Song—the album continues to build on Merritt’s growing legacy.
