About this Event
Join us for an evening with Peter Ashburn from the Hardy Orchids Society as he shares his delight in the amazing variety of our native wild orchids found locally in Hampshire and further afield in the UK. Orchids, such as the bright pinkish purple pyramidal orchid, the common fragrant orchid which lives up to its name in the early evening, and the bee orchid whose flowers mimic a bee, are arguably among the most beautiful of our native wildflower species.
They are a wonderful find when out for a walk. Many are now very rare such as the red helleborine and the aptly named lady's slipper orchid and can only be found in specially protected places.
The Hardy Orchid Society supports the safeguarding of wild orchid populations and the preservation of wild habitats for the benefit of present and future generations.
