About this Event

From Local to Global is a series of events organized by Jhpiego in collaboration with a range of local and global organizations working to improve outcomes for pregnant and birthing families.

The series brings together local and global perspectives to spotlight critical maternal and newborn health topics promote cross-context learning, and surface practical solutions that translate community practice into scalable health‑system impact.

The inaugural event, "From Local to Global: Increasing Access to Doula Care and Birth Support", held on 4 March 2026 in Washington D.C., convened stakeholders to explore evidence, partnerships, and strategies for expanding equitable doula services. The hybrid event, convened in partnership with NAABB, brought together more than 40 cross-sector participants and an online audience to advance collaboration on expanding doula care. The program paired research and practical insights on healthcare partnerships and scalable workforce models with a Community Marketplace highlighting local organizations and fostering resource-sharing.

This second interation, convened in partnership with NAABB, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, and Align:, aims to bring together colleagues working across U.S. and global contexts to explore different models of midwifery care, share practical experiences, and identify lessons that can help strengthen access to high-quality, person-centered maternal health care across settings.

Catering: Guests will be served a complimentary lunch catered by What the Chef, a local Black- and women-owned catering business rooted in culinary expertise, purposeful service, and conscious cooking. There will be vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
