About this Event

The Sustainable Edit:

What happens to your clothes after you wear them? Most end up in landfills. But what if they could become something entirely new—and valuable?

Join us for the second Lobby Lecture as we explore the surprising science behind textile recycling with Dr. Urbain Nagano, a postdoctoral researcher in Chemistry at Dublin City University. For the past two years, Dr. Nagano has been transforming discarded garments into high-performance insulation foams that could revolutionize sustainable housing.

This isn't just about fashion or waste—it's about reimagining what we throw away and building a circular future where materials have endless lives.

What To Expect:

  1. Textile Recycling, and recycling routes
  2. The actual sustainability of the current fashion model
  3. Consumer behavior and our collective power

About Our Lecturer:

Dr. Urbain Ndagano is a postdoctoral researcher in Chemistry at Dublin City University, specializing in the PureTex project a groundbreaking initiative focused on the chemical recycling of post-consumer textile waste. Their work bridges circular materials science and green manufacturing, developing scalable pathways to reduce textile landfill waste while advancing low-carbon building materials.
