LO New Mexico | Petroglyph Hike and Hot Chocolate

Welcome to the Petroglyph Hike and Hot Chocolate event! Join us for a fun-filled day at Rinconada Canyon Trail. Discover ancient rock art on a guided hike through the beautiful canyon. After the hike, warm up with a cup of delicious hot chocolate. Don't miss out on this unique experience to explore history and enjoy a tasty treat in the great outdoors. Grab your hiking boots and get ready for a memorable adventure!

We are encouraging everyone to bring your own coffee mug for your hot chocolate to minimize the use of styrofoam cups

No dogs allowed. Please leave your pets at home for this hike.

Time: 9:00 meet in the parking lot to go over safety information and sign waivers. We will start our hike at 10:00am.

Distance: Two-mile loop trip from parking lot along the right side of the canyon.

Degree of difficulty: Easy to moderate

Starting from the trailhead, you will be hiking along the right side of the canyon/mesa. As you walk along the trail, you will notice many petroglyphs etched into the dark rocks. These petroglyphs belong to various people groups and cultures including Native Americans, Spanish settlers, and American ranchers.

For Your Safety

Dress appropriately and always wear sturdy hiking boots with ankle support. Winter winds are chilling. Layer clothing and wear a hat/beanie and a jacket.
