About this Event
Limited Lawn & Ornamental (LLO) Training & Exam
This program is intended for personnel who maintain parks, greenways, athletic fields, libraries, and other facilities that may need to use pesticides. This program will provide training to prepare attendees for a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences (FDACS) Limited Lawn and Ornamental (LLO) certification.

Fees:
Training = $10 (does not include lunch) for each attendee payable to UF/IFAS Leon County Extension (companies can combine payment for multiple employees through Eventbrite).
For examinees = $150 testing fee payable to FDACS; payments cannot be combined. Online payment voucher required through FDACS website - see instructions below.
Each examinee must bring:
- Current photo ID (driver’s license, etc.)
- FDACS Voucher
Instructions for FDACS online payment:
Visit this website - https://pesticideexam.ifas.ufl.edu/ - and choose “Apply for examination”. That sends you to an FDACS page. You'll need to create an account first. Once you have an account, go into their Licensing Portal and in the upper left choose Apply for New License - Standard License. The next screen asks you to select license type. Under Florida Statute, choose the 482 option and then in the License Type field, hit the little magnifying glass and choose Limited Lawn & Ornamental. Hit submit. Complete the next few screens of personal information, including criminal background history and acknowledgements. Be sure to follow the system's prompts for how to enter dates and phone numbers. You will then receive an invoice via email or can pay online in the system's Invoice section. Once the invoice is paid, you will receive a receipt with a Voucher Number. The Voucher Number is needed to sign in to testing computers.

10:30 – 11:20 – Introduction to IPM – Identification and Control of Insects and Diseases (1 LLO, O&T, ROW, L&O) - Review Pest I.D. & IPM, Mouthparts, Common Insects, Strategies, Control Options
11:20 – 12:10 – Integrated Vegetation Management (1 LLO, O&T, ROW, L&O) - Review W**d Control in Plant Beds, I.D. and Management, Herbicide Terminology

1:10 – 2:00 – Reading a Label and Calculating Application Rates (1 CORE) - Review Label Reading, Label is Law, Calculations, Exceptions to Label, MSDS Requirements
2:00 – 2:30 – Water Quality Protection – Pesticides and Fertilizers (1 CORE, LUF) - Review Proper Application of Pesticides for Water Protection, Environmental Fate of Pesticides, Non-Point Source Pollution
2:30 – 3:00 – Review/Questions/Break
