Acclaimed Storyteller, Liz Weir MBE, is over from Ireland!

Join us for an unforgettable evening with a legendary storyteller. Liz Weir understands the healing power of stories. A storyteller from Northern Ireland, she has gained an international reputation while telling stories on five continents and at major international events, including the Marrakech International Storytelling Festival and the Sydney International Storytelling Conference. In 2019, Liz was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to the arts and education. https://www.lizweir.org/

Appearing with Liz will be Kenny Somerville and emcee Willy Claflin, both of whom will be telling a short story.

Willy Claflin is a one-man festival. Spanning historical sagas, intergalactic yarns, Mother Moose Tales, and counter-culture misadventures, he covers the full spectrum of spoken word entertainment. Willy has authored multiple award-winning recordings and has performed across the globe, including at the International Storytelling Festival in Ireland. Kenny Somerville Kenny Somerville is a musician and storyteller from Co Fermanagh. He is a member of the well-known Bay Area group, the Gas Men, and plays tunes and songs from the Irish and American tradition on banjo and mandolin.

Liz will also host a workshop from 4:00-5:30pm prior to the concert, and tickets may be purchased separately or as a combined ticket. See below for description.

"Shortening the road: storytelling and conflict resolution"

In this practical workshop, Liz will examine how encouraging people to share their own stories can promote cultural understanding. All of us have experienced conflict in our lives, whether that was bullying , racial jibes, or dealing with issues from the past. Participants will have the chance to think about difference and how acceptance of it can help resolve conflict situations.

Evening Performance - 7:00-8:30pm - Seating limited to 100 - Colllins Chapel

The incredible Liz Weir MBE will be telling stories at this intimate, in person event in Oakland, CA. At the beautiful Collins Chapel at Stagebridge, she will share the stage with the talented and hilarious Willy Claflin who will emcee and tell a story. Fellow Irishman, Kenny Somerville, will also be telling a story and playing music. Join us for an unforgettable evening.
