Liz Hyder is a writer and creative workshop leader, now working as part of Writing West Midlands writer development programme. Having previously won The Bridge Award/ Moniack Mhor's Emerging Writer Award, she has also worked freelance with household name authors, broadcasters, performers and presenters on everything from EastEnders, Holby and Casualty to Radio 4 and arts TV.
Liz is the acclaimed author of several books. Her two fiction novels are The Gifts, which was the McKitterick Prize runner up, and The Illusions. Her book series for younger adults includes Bearmouth - which won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for Older Readers and was The Times’ Children’s Book of the Year - and The Twelve, a Financial Times and Guardian Book of the Year. Her latest book, The Teller of Tall Tales, is out this October.
At midday Liz will be hosting a creative writing workshop, and at 2pm she’ll be recounting her storytelling journey so far.
