An education program presented by the Alzheimer’s Association® in partnership with the College of Western Idaho and the Southwest Idaho Area Agency on Aging. What you will learn:
1. What does a dementia diagnosis mean?
2. Essential planning post-diagnosis.
3. Available resources for support.
Objectives:
-Identify Alzheimer’s warning signs and symptoms across all stages.
-Grasp legal, financial, and care related planning for dementia patients.
-Understand in-home and residential care choices.
-Prioritize caregiver safety, emergency readiness, and behavior management.
-Address key safety concerns: driving, weapons, and wandering.
-Examine the evolution of relationships.
-Define and collaborate with a dementia care team.
-Preserve communication with the diagnosed and respect their identity.
-Emphasize caregiver self-care.
