As Curator of the Cal Poly Plant Conservatory, Gage Willey manages the diverse teaching collections and production areas that make up the conservatory facilities. He graduated from Cal Poly through the horticulture program, receiving his education in greenhouse and nursery plant production. Gage works with student assistants and volunteers to maintain the collection, and leads them in a multitude of hands-on projects, all to support the conservatory facility. In addition to helping set up labs for the Biological Sciences Department as a Support Technician, he coordinates with classes across the campus to utilize the conservatory collection.
Outside of Cal Poly, Gage works part time with Habitat Horticulture, a living wall company based in the Bay Area. The company, started by a Cal Poly alumnus and past conservatory volunteer, specializes in designing, building, and maintaining living walls throughout California. He oversees the living wall that surrounds the new conservatory facility, as well as a few other living walls around San Luis Obispo.
