This session will feature a presentation by acclaimed composer and community worker Jon Jang and a music performance by Francis Wong and friends TBA. While admission is free, attendees and online audience will have an opportunity to donate in support of Los Angeles-based musicians impacted by the fires.
Jon Jang will give a talk entitled “Make Something New” exploring the transformative role of music and culture through reflections on his signature work Butterfly Lovers Song. Here’s a recent recording of the work performed by saxophonist Hitomi Oba with Jang.
