Living Dock Oyster Mat Making Workshop
About this Event
June 10 Make Oyster Mats at the Barrier Island Center, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Come learn about Living Docks in the Indian River Lagoon from Dante Romero and aid in habitat restoration. Dante is a graduate student at Florida Tech, working on the Living Docks project. His master's research focuses on mobile animals (e.g., fish, crabs, and shrimp) that utilize the Living Docks as a habitat, with the intention of evaluating their impact on the ecosystem of the Indian River Lagoon in densely populated areas. Workshop includes a presentation about the Living Docks program and an outdoor oyster mat making workshop on our deck.
