For over 100 years, the U.S. Army “Pershing’s Own” Concert Band has provided the soundtrack to history in Washington, D.C., as the premier musical organization of the nation’s senior service. Join us for an engaging evening of symphonic blockbusters, music from the stage and silver screen, and patriotic favorites.
The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” was formed on January 25, 1922, by order of General John J. Pershing. General Pershing believed that bands played a vital role in troop morale and efficiency and was convinced that America needed a premier band to surpass those of Europe. “Pershing’s Own” provides musical support for the leadership of the United States, to include all branches of government, and to a wide spectrum of national and international events to connect the Army to the American people.
This show is part of the Weinberg Center’s LIVE! Series, celebrating iconic music and exceptional musicianship. The Weinberg Center, located in the heart of Downtown Frederick, MD, offers a historic backdrop and excellent acoustics for a memorable concert experience.
