Live Podcast Event with ATMOM & Friends in Minneapolis: Sept. 11th-13th
About this Event
Friday evening, September 11th, Sarah and Louise of Adoption: The Making of Me will have their live podcast interview with a guest (tbd) to kick off the weekend. Kristal Parke, creator of the documentary Because She's Adopted, will be the evening's host.
Start time is 6:00 PM at Open Book. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Please be on time.
Afterward, we’ll gather for food and connection at nearby Day Block Brewery in a private area. While everyone will be covering their own meal costs, make sure not to miss it - it's a great way to connect with fellow attendees.
Saturday, September 12th, Damon Davis of the Who Am I Really? podcast will be the day's emcee and moderator!
Doors open at 9:30 AM with programming beginning at 10:00 AM.
The day will include:
- A solo performance by artist Jae Carelli
- A panel discussion featuring adoptees and adoption-informed leaders, including Gregory Luce of the Adoptee Rights Law Center; Jean Kelly Widner, author of The Adoption Paradox; Connor Howe (Adopted Connor); Shannon Gibney, writer, educator, and activist; Cameron Lee Small, author of The Adoptee's Journey; and more to be announced.
- Documentary shorts by Lynelle Long, Founder, InterCountry Adoptee Voices (ICAV), and Dahee Kim(titles forthcoming).
- A stand-up set by comedian and past live podcast guest Chris Williams.
- Note: After a late afternoon break, we will gather at a local dining spot on Saturday night. Once again, Everyone will cover their own dinner costs. TBD
Sunday, September 13th, Dr. Liz Debetta, creator of Un-M-Othered, will be offering her Migrating Toward Wholeness™: A Healing & Integration Workshop.
You don't have to carry it home alone.
This weekend may stir something in you - this workshop is where you get to land. Through guided writing, reflection, and gentle expressive practices rooted in the MTW framework, we'll make space to process the feelings, connections, questions, and insights that emerge during the weekend before you head home.
No writing experience needed. All are welcome. Whether this is your first adoptee gathering or you've been doing this work for years, this space is for you.
This workshop includes:
- Trauma-informed guided writing and reflection
- Nervous system-supportive practices
- Community connection and witnessing
- A grounded, gentle close to the weekend
