The Night Owl and Dorland Music are thrilled to announce an electrifying night of music showcasing the versatile guitarist, Kevin Barrett, and the captivating vocalist, Patricia Cano. Both Kevin and Patricia provide a tantalizing musical journey that will mesmerize the audience.

Kevin Barrett is a guitarist, musical director, composer, and producer who is based in Toronto, Canada, and Edinburgh, Scotland. With a 30-year international career, he has earned a reputation as a passionate soloist, dynamic band leader, top-tier accompanist, and versatile side musician, having performed at festivals, clubs, and concert venues with many of Canada’s finest artists, including Patricia Cano, Molly Johnson, Lillian Allen, Sharron McLeod, Louis Simão, Kevin Quain & the Mad Bastards, Kellylee Evans, Julie Michels, Mike Kearney, Big Rude Jake, Amanda Martinez, and the Stratford Festival.

Beyond his extensive recording credits as a musician, producer, and engineer, Kevin has served as Musical Director for numerous projects, including Ron Davis’ SymphRONica and Daniela Nardi’s ESPRESSO MANIFESTO, and maintains a recording and teaching studio in Toronto’s Kensington Market and is always seeking new opportunities to collaborate!

Sudbury’s own Patricia Cano is a Peruvian-Canadian singer-songwriter and actress whose career took off in 2001 when she began traveling the world performing Cree cabaret alongside Cree playwright, author, and composer Tomson Highway. In 2003, Patricia moved to Paris to work with Le Théâtre du Soleil, and in 2007, she spent seven months in Rio de Janeiro, where she collaborated with Brazilian composer and multiinstrumentalist Carlos Bernardo. Together, they created two studio albums, This is The New World (2009) and Madre Amiga Hermana (2017), which they toured across Canada.

Recipient of the 2017 Toronto Theatre Critics Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Tomson Highway's one-woman musical, The (Post) Mistress, Patricia’s discography also includes contributions to the album A Luz (2016) by Portuguese-Canadian composer Louis Simão and Tomson Highway’s album Cree Country (2022). During the pandemic in 2021, Patricia and Simão collaborated on The Love & Resistance Sessions, a project featuring four original songs aimed at lifting spirits during the challenging times. One of these songs, "Dolly’s Song," was featured in Stellar (2022), a film by Anishinaabe writer and director Darlene Naponse.

Patricia values her long-standing musical collaborations and friendships with Kevin Barrett and Louis Simão, and she is excited to perform with both at the Night Owl. Her rich and varied career, marked by international travels and diverse musical projects, showcases her dedication to her craft and her ability to connect with audiences through multiple languages and genres.
