About this Event
Juliet is quite world experienced with many global connections making her an eclectic and seasoned performer. Originally hailing from the UK and half Jamaican, Juliet has lived in Vancouver BC, Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines, Ontario as well as Paris, France where she lived for 13 years.
Unlike most, Juliet submerged herself in the world of music and theatre at a later age (in her 20’s), which took place for the most part in France and continues to this day as she develops more and more as an artist here in Canada.
Whilst in France Juliet worked in theatre, musical theatre, film and television, the fashion industry and the music industry.
Some highlights from her career in France include playing the lead role in the TV movie ‘L’Amerloque’ (The Yankee), of a ‘jeune-fille au-pair / jazz singer’ and releasing two singles as a recording artist. (Released in France, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg.)
Now based in Ontario, Canada, Juliet continues to work in film, TV and theatre and has now expanded her horizon into the world of jazz music. Juliet’s singing teacher in France (Monsieur Jean Salamero) helped develop her love for jazz and she is thrilled to finally have an opportunity to pursue this avenue.
She currently performs with various jazz musicians in the Niagara region and is also working on new material and constantly continuing to evolve as a singer and artist.
Originally from the UK and of Jamaican heritage, Juliet Dunn is a well-traveled and globally connected performer with a diverse background who has lived in Vancouver, BC, Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines, Ontario, as well as Paris, France, where she resided for 13 years.
Unlike many, Juliet delved into the world of music and theatre in her 20s, with much of her early artistic development occurring in France. During her time there, she worked in theatre, musical theatre, film, television, and the fashion industry. Notable highlights of her career include playing the lead role in the TV movie "L’Amerloque" (The Yankee) as a young au-pair and jazz singer, and releasing two singles in France, Holland, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
Now based in Ontario, Canada, Juliet continues to work in film, TV, and theatre, and has recently expanded her career into the realm of jazz music. Her singing teacher in France, Monsieur Jean Salamero, nurtured her love for jazz, and she is excited to pursue this new path.
Performing regulary with her husband and musical partner, Peter Shea, their duo known as ‘The Shea D Duo,’ offers a diverse repertoire of jazz, soul, and pop music. In addition to this collaboration, Juliet leads several other bands, including the Juliet Dunn Quintet, Le Trio Parisien, and the Kitt Cat Collective. She has earned accolades for her work, winning the Niagara Music Award for ‘Jazz Group of the Year’ in 2011 with Le Trio Parisien and in 2009 with the Juliet Dunn Quintet.
From 2011 to 2014, Juliet had the pleasure of hosting the "Sunrise" radio show on Canada’s leading jazz station, JAZZ.FM 91, every Saturday and Sunday morning from 6 am to 9 am.
Juliet currently serves as the Executive Director of the TD Niagara Jazz Festival.
