George DeJong: Music Bio

The piano lessons which began at age 5, have led to a productive and versatile career in music for George DeJong. A multi-talented musician, George was the keyboard player for Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone from 1990 to 2003. He traveled the globe with Herman’s Hermits, playing shows in Las Vegas, New York, Canada, Singapore and many points in between. Additionally, he played keyboards for Micky Dolenz (The Monkees), Bobby Sherman (Easy Come, Easy Go), Billy J. Kramer (Little Children), Sam Moore of Sam & Dave (Soul Man) and vocalists from The Drifters & The Platters. George also worked with Grammy nominated songwriter & soul singer, Harvey Scales who wrote the 70's smash hit "Disco Lady". Traveling to the Virgin Islands and playing with the musicians there allowed George to soak up all the different Caribbean rhythms for a very authentic sound when he performs in sunny southwest Florida.
Residing in Florida since 1996, George DeJong strives to create a tropical ambience during solo appearances. His musical recipe for having "fun in the sun" is simple: Take a keyboard and a guitar, add dashes of pop, reggae and calypso, sprinkle in some Jimmy Buffett, mix in requests from your favorite era, and top it off with a few of Herman’s Hermits greatest hits and you've got George DeJong serving up the best in live entertainment.
His keyboard and guitar stylings can also be heard when he's performing with The A Train, The Innerwave Trio and the Duo, Straight Up! or at one of his Solo shows.
George enjoys sharing his talent with local community groups and causes. His company, Innerwave Music is a member of the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce. He attends many networking events like the Gulf Coast Living Magazine Networking Breakfast and Open Network Venice.

All this activity keeps George one of the busiest musicians arround. He's been honored to be asked to play the music for the local Special Olympics Opening Ceremony and is a frequent guest at The Loveland Center for adults with disabilities. Mr. DeJong is a popular performer at retirement communities and senior centers, where he augments his usual selections with hits from the big band era. He's also entertained at the Relay For Life Cancer Research fund raiser, Kiwanis charity events and E.A.R.S. animal rescue shelter's "adopt-a-thons." Lastly, George donates his time to play the music for "Honoring Our Veterans" for a Memorial Day Special Event. George believes in giving back to the community.
With a recording career that spans many years, George DeJong's music is featured on his label "Innerwave Music". Take a look on the Innerwave Music page for more information.
