About this Event
Please join us for a evening of sublime, horn-forward bands equal parts jam band, jazz-rock fusion, and electronic. Time in the Wilderness, PsychoPomP, and BLAUDiSS represent a smattering of some of DC's finest local acts, and they can't wait to share the fruits of their musical labors with you.
PsychoPomP is DMV-based jazz-rock fusion/jam band that is at once reminiscent of bands like Morph*ne, Queens of the Stone Age, Primus, Weather Report, and Phish, and at the same time something new and vibrant of its own. The band is a dynamic collaboration between Mason Henry on Bass/Keys, Kurt Hagemann on Alto Sax/Keys, and JR Franks on Drums. Much like the storied spirit guides of old - the majestic raven and owl, or the otherworldly deities Anubis or Charon - prepare for PsychoPomP to ferry your sonic soul to an aural spirit realm far beyond our earthly plane.
Time in the Wilderness captivates audiences with original, engaging instrumental grooves that transport listeners into uncharted musical territories. The quintet skillfully blends soundscapes and improvisational elements to explore themes of hope and discovery, seamlessly weaving together genres through intricate rhythms.
Dueling drummers (Brad Samuels and Paul Aquilino) craft a unified pocket of polyrhythms, starting a topic with bass player (Mike Landis) on both 4-string and 6-string tic-tac bass, juicing the hook. Themes are cultivated, nurtured and destroyed on meandering planes established by guitar, synth and other sonic devices (Andre Radloff). Soaring and catchy, masterful trumpet (Ralph Burrows) transports us to other spheres.
BlauDisS is the organic electronic music project of Washington, DC producer and
multi-instrumentalist Bert Loudis. His passion for music began in his early years
when he played saxophone in a variety of jazz groups. Since then Bert has gone through an eclectic journey ranging from performance in classical orchestras to death metal bands.
He brings this diverse experience together in BlauDisS - uniting various influences that
bring the listener on a bittersweet but optimistic journey.
His tracks primarily use self-recorded guitar, bass, saxophone, handpan, and percussion
hits from household items and nature. Vocals are recorded either from musicians locally in DC or from online collaborations with artists ranging from all corners of the earth.
