Jacob Wutzke is a drummer, bandleader and composer based in New York City. Noted for his precise technique, creativity, and joyful, uplifting sense of swing, he performs regularly both as a leader and as a sideman. A staple of the jazz scene, he has performed and recorded with Caity Gyorgy, Ira Coleman, Jocelyn Gould, Bryn Roberts and more. He also regularly tours with his own groups performing original material.Having studied at Humber College (Bachelor of Music - 2019) and McGill University (Masters in Jazz Performance - 2022), Jacob is well-respected in the music community and can be seen performing at prestigious clubs, halls, and jazz festivals around the globe. He is also a committed music educator and author, having self-published several drum method books that have become essential practice tools for drummers around the world.
Jacob has released 3 albums as a leader — "You Better Bet" (2025, Cellar Music Group), “Show Yourself” (2023, Independent) and a duo album with saxophonist Lucas Dubovik entitled “Take it in Stride” (2024, Independent).
