LIVE MUSIC: Herschel Hoover/Czonka/Spark Isle/True Summit

A night of noise, grooves and experimental sounds brought to you by local DC-area acts Czonka, Herschel Hoover, and Spark Isle, accompanied by the Austin-based touring band True Summit. Four bands, four traditions, one evening. Don't miss it.

Herschel Hoover co-founded experimental rock band taylorshit.net, best known for playing the International Noise Conference in Miami (2019 & 2020) performing at Macrock (2022), being thrown out of a punk club in Norfolk for being too loud, and producing 7 albums since their inception in 2019. Herschel Hoover Abstract was formed from the ashes of that group, keeping the improvisational spirit, but focusing on more of a blended sound in lieu of being a spectacle. (Experimental)

Czonka is DC-based two-piece that defies classification, self-describing their music as "angular, percussive, and loop-tastic." Their sound embodies true sonic momentum, charging every room they enter with pure energy, blending art-punk and electronic elements grounded in repetition. (Electronic, art-punk)

Spark Isle is an experimental rock trio based in the DMV. The group’s instrumental compositions touch on jazz, funk, punk and styles in between. Visually, Spark Isle presents projections to accompany each song that often feature footage of collaborations with artists from other mediums (painters, dancers, etc.). (Experimental Rock)

True Summit is an Austin-based four-piece instrumental group that utilizes a traditional "rock" format to construct uncompromising, immersive, emotionally nuanced compositions at maximum volume. (Experimental/Modernist rock)
