Live Music - Eric Schmitt with Randolph Thomas
At 8:00 PM EST, we welcome Eric Schmitt! Eric is a songwriter and performer from Baton Rouge, LA, where he teaches English and songwriting at Louisiana State University. Eric’s most recent album, Wait for the Night, landed on a number of folk and alt-country radio charts and received lavish reviews in national and international publications. Paul Riley from Country Music People UK calls “Eric Schmitt a songwriter who may be a genius,” and suggests, “fans of John Prine, Chip Taylor, Leo Kottke, and Jackson Browne should be listening to the incredible music of Eric Schmitt.” Americana UK reviewer Sebastian Reyes Turner says, “Distinct narrators take over on each track and shouldn’t be confused with Schmitt himself, a gifted storyteller who shifts between perspectives to create a rich tapestry of ordinary life.” Acclaimed Nashville songwriter and Guy Clark collaborator Verlon Thompson says, “I place Eric near the top of any list of songwriters from anywhere.” Check him out at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100016807419131.
At 7:30 PM EST, we welcome back Randolph Thomas, one of the hottest songwriters in Roanoke at the moment. Randolph moved up here about a year ago from Baton Rouge, LA where he was a longtime favorite on the folkie circuit. He accompanies his soulful singing with folk and blues guitar and harmonica arrangements. His evocative, introspective songs marry lyricism and storytelling, honed by his skills as an award-winning poet and short story writer. His albums (Between the Lines and Nite by Nite) are available on CD and through streaming. Check him out at https://www.facebook.com/randolph.thomas.5.
