Crazy Pony is an international bluegrass duo from England and Switzerland, based in Switzerland.They play traditional songs and tunes with some original compositions in a bluegrass style, featuring a lot of dynamics and a slice of jazz. With furious banjo, a groovy bass, beautiful harmonies, and not forgetting the famous surprises, their performances are captivating! Founded in 2011, the duo has performed all over Europe and around the world in more than 25 countries! The band recorded their third album in 2017: "On the Mountain," a nostalgic reunion of the golden age of Americana folk music and blues.
Two great musicians:
Frank Powlesland:
Born in London, England. He plays banjo, guitar, lap steel dobro, ukulele, harmonica, and sings.
Frank is sponsored by the famous American banjo brand "Goldtone" for his original fingerpicking technique.
He holds a higher national diploma from the London College of Furniture (now Guildhall University) in musical instrument technology (guitar making).
He is also an accomplished circus performer (lasso, juggling, unicycle, balancing ladder, acrobatics, clowning, etc.).
He currently plays in different bands (Swing, Blues, Balkan, etc.) and street shows.
Léa Rovero:
Born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, she plays bass, washboard, concertina, piano, and sings. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Bern in musicology and art history and a DAS in cultural management from the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva.
She is also an accomplished circus performer (contortion, acrobatics, clowning, magic, etc.). She currently plays in different bands (Swing, Blues, Balkan, etc.) and street shows.
The Crazy Pony Show is a crossover between music, circus, and comedy.
This duo will take you on an intense and entertaining journey; virtuosic banjo picking and a charming bass with sweet harmonies meet acrobatics, contortion, and incredible surprises, leaving you on the edge of your seat and entranced!
Created in 2011, the duo of French-speaking Swiss Léa Rovero and English Frank Powlesland combines their talents and their love for bluegrass to create this unique "one-of-a-kind" show.
The Crazy Pony Show has already performed all over Europe and beyond, winning first prize in two competitions.
