"An emotional and distinctive mix of folk, electronic, jazz and experimental." —
Led by Brooklyn-based composer/producer Daniel Markus, Border House traces its origins to the experimental music scene at Oberlin College, where Markus first crossed paths with bandmates Henry Nelson (guitar/bass), Will Curry (saxophone, synthesizers), and Sam Schuman (drums) during work recording and mixing their own bands' projects. Those early sessions sparked an immediate creative bond and love for combining seemingly disparate musical traditions—classic folk songwriting injected with noise music; indie rock songs built on complex jazz harmony; and ambient, sampled soundscapes mixed with classical orchestration.After a pandemic hiatus, the band relocated to Brooklyn and began recording in Markus' studio, culminating with the release of their single in July of 2023, which received numerous press accolades and global radio airplay. The band is currently writing multiple records, with the first expected to be released in Winter 2024.
