Live Music Band Photography workshop at The Bedford

A dedicated live music photography workshop held in a professional music venue that has full event lighting to capture a band playing their set. This event is a rare opportunity for you to learn skills and be part of a great experience with a sound and lighting engineer present.

This workshop led by The Photography Squad team will provide you with a structured approach to live music photography, giving you hands-on experience of capturing a band in a dedicated venue with state of the art sound and AV technology. The Bedford provides the perfect environment to capture a live band playing their set without an audience.

This is a live music event held at The Bedford, Balham. We’ll be covering camera settings, positioning yourself and camera angles, preparation for the shoot, engaging with bands and event organisers and understanding their expectations, as well as editing and use of images. You’ll come away learning relevant skills you can put into action yourself as well as being able to capture some incredible images on the day.

Overview of the workshop will include:
Camera settings and equipment : Live music photography is challenging with low light and fast action. We will be working in manual setting, shooting RAW and will provide guidance on pushing shutter speed and ISO to acceptable limits. We will also consider your other camera settings and equipment so you can prepare before you shoot these types of events.

Preparation for the event : Before you shoot, you need to consider what you are looking to achieve and if delivering for a client, what they expect from you. In a live music event, there will likely be an audience and therefore your positioning will be important to think about beforehand.

Editing and delivery : We will provide editing tips and also provide guidance on delivery and use of your images.

Petra Eujane will lead this event and The Photography Squad team members are on hand to provide individual and group support / constructive feedback where required.

Featuring the very talented Soaked who will be playing a live set exclusively for the participants in our photography workshop. The session will include a presentation in the Ballroom and live music in the Clubroom.

The Bedford has a dedicated live music event space and you can see their Club Room .

Please bring a mirrorless / DSLR camera.

We suggest a range of lenses if you have to include wide (16mm), medium (35mm or 50mm) fixed and zoom (24mm - 105mm or longer).
