Clawhammer style banjo is an early style of playing, adapted from an African instrument. The style of playing took hold in and around Appalachia on the front porches and barn dances from the middle of the 1800's.
Dominica is passionate about preserving these old tunes but presenting them in a modern, more contemporary way. The banjo style is warm and melodic and her voice is big and soulful. She is a relative newcomer to this style of music but is no stranger to performing. Working as a professional musician in and around Frederick, Md since the late 90's.
