***Please book tickets using only this link: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/sharmanka/t-eayqvdlFor Sharmanka's September music event amidst Eduard Bersudsky's marvellous mechanical sculptures, we welcome The DDN for the launch of its new music release "Utrillo. V.", a concept album about the life and work of the French painter Maurice Utrillo.
The DDN is the brainchild of local troublemaker Timotheus; a remarkable ongoing exploration of electronic music and intimate art performance for over 12 years. Where once the DDN's live performances were notorious in the Glasgow scene and often careened on stage from anthemic bounce-alongs to intense noise workouts in the blink of an eye, the project has entered its latest more expansive, developed and contemplative incarnation.
The DDN's ultimate objective as a performer is to create and present music arrangements that capture the imagination of the listener through both beauty and/or extremity. The music of the DDN serves to probe and combat the terror of existentialism that we all experience; and as forward-thinking art succeeds to do, the DDN constantly strives to present new ideas and techniques, but within familiar inclusive formats.
The DDN can seem deadly serious, but it can sometimes appear exceptionally absurd. Words commonly used to describe the DDN's performances by past promoters include: "intense"; "uncomfortable"; "exciting"; "entertaining". Popular musicians that have markedly influenced the music of the DDN include: Blanck Mass; LFO; Throbbing Gristle; Konx-om-Pax.
