For August’s live event amidst Eduard Bersudsky’s marvellous mechanical sculptures, we’re delighted to welcome the wonderful Scottish composer and harpist Pippa Reid-Foster.
Pippa’s records and live work are testament to her diverse interests, reflected in her own compositions and interpretations of works by the likes of Philip Glass, Meredith Monk, Max Richter and Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres; her solo performances sit alongside her strong interest in collaboration and wide-ranging sources of inspiration, such as her piece Murmurations and her involvement in the North Atlantic Islands Residency aboard the 75-foot fishing smack Excelsior, travelling to the Faroe Islands for three weeks in 2024.
Inspired by the landscape and experience of the voyage, she has since composed a new suite for solo harp, with plans to further develop the work for large-scale ensemble.
We look forward to what will be a night to remember in our unique space at Sharmanka!
The music event will be followed by a mini performance of Sharmanka's kinetic artworks. There are a limited number of tickets to fill this intimate space, so if you want to be there, the soundest advice is to book early!
