About this Event
Join us for a magical evening with one hour of classical music.
Details about the evening
We are delighted to welcome the Nagoya Academy Ensemble, an amateur classical music group from Nagoya, Japan, to perform in London this August.
The ensemble warmly invites you to join them for what promises to be a heartfelt and memorable concert, celebrating friendship, tradition and the shared joy of music.
The programme will feature a selection of much-loved works, including music by Beethoven and Elgar, as well as traditional Scottish folk songs — an evening of familiar and uplifting repertoire.
About Nagoya Academy Ensemble
Nagoya, located in central Japan and home to the Toyota Motor Corporation, has a rich cultural as well as industrial heritage. The members of the Nagoya Academy Ensemble have shared their love of music since their university days, maintaining a close friendship over many years. United by a passion for classical music, their aim is simple yet heartfelt: to enrich their own lives — and the lives of others — through music.
The ensemble members studied under Professor Naotada Yamamoto, who trained in Leipzig, Germany, and devoted his life to cultivating classical music in Nagoya in the years following the Second World War. His musical legacy continues to inspire the group today. Many members also perform regularly in orchestras and have previously toured Germany, performing in churches and concert halls.
This London performance is a particularly special occasion. Following a successful concert tour to Hokkaido last year — their first performances outside Nagoya — appearing at RFSK in London is the fulfilment of a long-held dream. The ensemble is deeply grateful to Ms Chie Morimoto, a professional violinist who attends the Sherborne Summer Music Camp each year, and to Mr Roger Preece of RFSK for making this opportunity possible.
T ickets are based on "Pay what you can", starting from £5.00
