About this Event
For half a century, the Toronto-born Lorne Michaels has been the revered, feared, and irreplaceable visionary behind the most influential comedy series in the world: Saturday Night Live. Winner of more than one-hundred Emmy Awards, Michaels has helmed the series through its meteoric rise, countless setbacks, and relentless reinventions. No one in comedy has a keener eye for talent – the household names to whom Michaels has given a start are too many to mention – or a more ruthless work ethic.
In Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live, Susan Morrison has written the first definitive biography of this elusive genius. With unprecedented access to Michaels and the entire SNL apparatus, Morrison takes readers behind the curtain for the story of how Michaels created and maintained the institution that changed comedy forever. In conversation with author Paul Myers, Morrison will take the audience on a mesmerizing inside tour of a singular obsessive whose taste still determines the course of modern comedy.
