The Ella Speed Reaction are a Madrid based collective who released their debut album Masalaland in January 2023 with the follow up Other People’s Lives to be released later in the year. They have many different musical influences. However Masalaland draws mainly from The Clash Jam Pistols Kinks Who Beatles Smiths Stone Roses & one or two others. Other People’s Lives is more introspective & draws from Bacharach Byrds Beatles 65/66 Stax Motown & Shack among other things. There are plans to include Reggae Funk & Krautrock influences on further recordings. The songs are all sung in English & many of the themes are about English life with political & social comment.
